Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.
1 Corinthians 15:58 (NIV)

The more fully you give yourself to the work of the Lord, the less you will be moved by things that aren’t.

Isaiah 50:4a

The Lord GOD has given me the tongue of those who are taught, that I may know how to sustain with a word him who is weary.
Isaiah 50:4a (ESV)

Listen and seek the heart of God concerning the people around you. Be sensitive to what He shows you, and be willing to offer that word in due season to those who are weary.

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven: a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted; a time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; a time to seek, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; a time to tear, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; a time to love, and a time to hate; a time for war, and a time for peace.
Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 (ESV)

When it is time for war, mourning, weeping and hate, God please give us the hope of the redeeming seasons ahead and help us make good use of these times that are most difficult to endure.

Be angry, and do not sin; ponder in your own hearts on your beds, and be silent. Selah
Psalm 4:4 (ESV)

There’s something to be said for ‘counting down before blasting off.’ Bring this passage to mind. Do not sin. Search your heart and be silent. Seek God and allow Him to guide you in how to deal with your emotions so that you respond in a godly manner, and not recklessly.

But Martha was distracted with much serving. And she went up to him and said, “Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her then to help me.” But the Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things, but one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her.”
Luke 10:40-42 (ESV)

Evaluate what you’re spending your time doing. Consider if you need to change or stay the course.

His speech was smooth as butter, yet war was in his heart; his words were softer than oil, yet they were drawn swords.
Psalm 55:21 (ESV)

Be discerning. What’s going on in one’s heart may be very different than what’s coming out of one’s mouth.

All who came before me were thieves and robbers. But the true sheep did not listen to them. The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.
John 10:8,10 (NLT)

Anyone or anything trying to lead you somewhere that is against God’s will is a thief, whose intention it is to kill, steal and destroy. Listen for His voice, and follow.

Nicodemus said to him, “How can these things be?” Jesus answered him, “Are you the teacher of Israel and yet you do not understand these things?
