I thank him who has given me strength, Christ Jesus our Lord, because he judged me faithful, appointing me to his service, though formerly I was a blasphemer, persecutor, and insolent opponent. But I received mercy because I had acted ignorantly in unbelief, and the grace of our Lord overflowed for me with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus.
1 Timothy 1:12-14 (ESV)

Without God’s grace and mercy none of us are strong and faithful, rather blasphemers, persecutors and insolent opponents of God. May God’s grace and mercy overflow in us so that we act in God’s love and not ignorance and unbelief.

After saying these things, Jesus was troubled in his spirit, and testified, “Truly, truly, I say to you, one of you will betray me.”
John 13:21 (ESV)

Imagine looking around at one another in this moment, wondering who would be the one to betray Jesus. Truthfully, we each betray Jesus as part of our human nature. For everything He is, and for giving His life for us, let us be ever thankful.

Yet he was merciful; he forgave their iniquities and did not destroy them. Time after time he restrained his anger and did not stir up his full wrath. He remembered that they were but flesh, a passing breeze that does not return.
Psalm 78:38,39 (NIV)

Let us give thanks to God for His mercy, and may we also pay it forward.

For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is His lovingkindness toward those who fear Him. As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us.
Psalm 103:11,12 (NASB)

Be comforted by God’s lovingkindness toward you, and thankful for his abundant mercy.
