Were not our hearts burning within us while He was speaking to us?
Luke 24:32 (NASB)

On the way to Emmaus, the men in this passage talked with Jesus. In hindsight, they realized their hearts were burning while they listened to Him. May God give us that same passion, fervor and intensity when we are hearing His Word and walking in His ways!

“I beheaded John,” Herod said, “so who is this man about whom I hear such stories?” And he kept trying to see him.
Luke 9:9 (NLT)

“…and he kept trying to see him.” Let us search for God with that same fervor.

“And Jesus stopped and said, “Call him here.” So they called the blind man, saying to him, “Take courage, stand up! He is calling for you.” Throwing aside his cloak, he jumped up and came to Jesus.”
Mark 10:49-50 (NASB)

As Jesus calls us out of our current condition, let us respond like the blind man, jumping up, throwing aside our belongings, ready to hand on His every word and follow Him!

And there was a man named Zacchaeus. He was a chief tax collector and was rich. And he was seeking to see who Jesus was, but on account of the crowd he could not, because he was small of stature. So he ran on ahead and climbed up into a sycamore tree to see him, for he was about to pass that way.
Luke 19:2-4 (ESV)

Let us be bold, willing to tackle our shortcomings at all costs in order to see Jesus!

That disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, “It is the Lord!” When Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put on some clothes, for he was naked, and jumped into the sea.
John 21:7 (NRS)

Let us seek the Lord with this kind of wild passion, thrilled to see Him at work in and around us.

The Lord God has given me the tongue of a teacher, that I may know how to sustain the weary with a word. Morning by morning he wakens — wakens my ear to listen as those who are taught.
Isaiah 50:4 (NRS)

Let us long for this kind of insight from the Lord so that we, too, can offer words of truth, able to sustain those who are weary in our midst.

And every day he was teaching in the temple area. The chief priests, the scribes, and the leaders of the people, meanwhile, were seeking to put him to death, but they could find no way to accomplish their purpose because all the people were hanging on his words.
Luke 19:47,48

Let us be like the people described here, hanging on Jesus’ every Word such that those who sought out to destroy it had no way to accomplish their plans.

Now a man there named Zacchaeus, who was a chief tax collector and also a wealthy man, was seeking to see who Jesus was; but he could not see him because of the crowd, for he was short in stature. So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore tree in order to see Jesus, who was about to pass that way.
Luke 19:2-4

Imagine what people must have thought when Zacchaeus climbed a tree in order to see Jesus. God honors that kind of reckless abandon toward Him. Don’t be ashamed to go above and beyond in your effort to see Christ and the work He’s doing around you.
